1.Calendar Reminder

Every bit a reminder, Friday, October 29, is the final solar day of the commencement quarter, and a two-hour early on release for students. Tomorrow, Fairfax Villa students and staff are going to have a Storybook Character Spirit Day.  To highlight our joy for reading, we are asking students to celebrate their favorite volume by dressing as their favorite book character.  Character clothes should be school appropriate with no "full face" masks and should non obscure students' vision, movement (including shoes for PE and recess), or power to take care of personal needs. Toy weapons are not permitted. The but handheld props should be your books.  We look forrad to seeing what wonderful book characters our students and staff will choose!


three.Educate Fairfax and Fairfax Villa

At the regular meeting on Oct 21, 2021, Educate Fairfax staff and  members were recognized by the Schoolhouse Lath for 10 years of service to the county'south public schools. The board commended them on the new name and brand and for raising well-nigh $6,000,000 to support FCPS over the past few years.

At Fairfax Villa Elementary School, all 535 students can have reward of the Brainwash Fairfax grant to supplement the book room with diverse books to help students with their reading and comprehension. Over 120 book sets were purchased that reverberate the diversity of the student body. As the reading specialist said, "Books serve equally both mirrors and windows for children. 4.Welcoming Our New Staff Members

We are excited to denote that nosotros accept hired two classroom monitors to work with our students and back up the bang-up work our teachers are doing. Recently, Ms. Shana Bullock and Ms. Adriana Jabaly have joined our staff. Although you lot may already know them since they live in our Villa neighborhood, please join us in welcoming them to our Fairfax Villa staff.

Ms. Bullock is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Wild fauna Biology who started her career writing Ecosystem Management Plans for Army bases in the US. Her involvement in that field led her and her hubby to spend 2 months volunteering with The Nature Conservancy on Palmyra Atoll - an uninhabited isle in the due south Pacific. Staying at domicile and caring for her iii children (a son at WVU, a daughter at Robinson SS, and a 1st grader at the Villa) allowed her to continue to piece of work every bit a preschool teacher and for the Town of Vienna's Parks Department.  With her family, Ms. Bullock loves to travel, camp, scuba swoop, ski, kayak, and garden. The Jabalys have been a part of the Villa family for many years and we are happy to take Ms. Jabaly join us on our staff.

five.Impact Aid Forms

FCPS uses the Student-Parent Survey for Federal Bear upon Help to identify federally continued students and to support our request for Bear on Aid resources.  On Oct 19th, the survey was distributed to all FCPS families. Please return all your forms by Nov 5th.

For each school-anile kid in your household, please complete, sign, appointment, and return the survey by November 5. If sections one and 2 of the survey do not utilize to you lot, but bank check the boxes in Section iii.  FCPS staff will process the data with the utmost confidentiality. 6.AAP Level IV Screening Information

The deadline for submitting a Level IV Referral Grade and all optional materials is December fifteen, 2021. Mrs. Wilkins shared detailed information about the screening process at a parent meeting on ten/26. To celebrate being back in person, students and staff will be wearing the aforementioned clothing to kickoff and stop each week during the 2021-22 schoolhouse twelvemonth!

  • On Mondays, we will be wearing our Positivity shirts to highlight our character strengths and virtues that we will be learning throughout the school year.  The Boosterthon team  distributed these green shirts during the fun run. The shirts highlight our Villa  dragon and Positivity logos on the front of the shirts.
  • On Fridays, we will be showing off our favorite Fairfax Villa spirit clothing.  If your son or daughter has outgrown their Fairfax Villa spirit habiliment clothing, our PTA has some new ones.

9.Daily Health Screening Reminder

On a daily basis, please consider if whatsoever of the following are true for your child, and if so, please keep them home:

  • Feeling feverish and/or having chills –documented temperature of 100.4°F or higher?
  • Has there been any apply of fever reducing medication within the concluding 24 hours?
  • A new cough that is not due to another wellness condition?
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose?
  • New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing that is not due to another health status?

10.FCPS COVID-19 Updates

In support of our commitment to safety, Fairfax Villa will begin optional COVID-xix screening testing students the week of Nov 8.
